DATAPAC PROVIDES HP Z800 WORKSTATION TO HOLFELD PLASTICS

Holfeld’s plant runs 24x7 and, at maximum speed, produces over one million units a day. The ability to machine components in the shortest possible time is vital to the business.

Datapac, a HP Gold Partner, already supplies Holfeld’s complete IT infrastructure, from network to storage to desktops to maintenance.  For this particular job it produced a tailored solution based on the HP Z800 Workstation.

“The value of dealing with an HP Gold partner in this process can’t be underestimated. Datapac provide us with a local touch and can cover the full range of our IT requirements, but when there is a specific technical requirement like this, they can bring the specialist technical resources of HP to the table,” explains Robert Byrne, IT Manager, Holfeld Plastics. “HP and Datapac had a thorough discussion with us around our requirement - and had really done their homework - and then were able to provide us with a very highly specified test platform for us to prove the application on before we committed to purchase.”

"As well as increasing production speeds, the scope and reliability of the Z800 has brought other benefits to Holfeld. “The Z800 does not freeze as soon as our designers try to do something, this has reduced their demands on the IT Department,” adds Byrne. “Their productivity has increased dramatically and the designers have confidence that they’re not going to lose the data halfway through the process. We run 24x7 and because it was taking so long to produce some of the programmes, someone would have to come in at night to start the next one, so we’re also saving on overtime. Productivity has gone up but the overtime bill has gone down. “The HP Z800 has certainly proved its worth so we are now planning to purchase another one in the near future.”
